"I Do"
8 New Wedding Trends for 2012:
Kate Middleton’s wedding has definitely started some trends in the wedding world. The Royal Wedding set the path for many new brides to follow. Kate’s elegantly laced sleeves and her Maid of Honor, Pippa Middleton’s, white bridesmaid dress are two things we will see this year. Indeed, this “fairy tale” wedding has inspired brides!
On the topic of wedding dresses, we started to see a trend of brides wearing multiple dresses for the big day. Kate Middleton, favored Alexander McQueen and wore two dresses for her wedding: one for the formal ceremony and the other for the reception. Other celebrities have also mirrored this wardrobe change. I have seen this a few times here at the Westin, brides definitely want to feel comfortable for eating and dancing.
Technology has taken wedding planning to the next level. Several wedding apps have been created to help the modern day bride plan for the biggest day of their lives. Facebook has also created a new window for wedding announcements, sharing of photos, finding vendors, and research on different wedding designs through friends. From wedding hairstyles to the centerpieces on the tables, pinterest has opened a completely new gate for researching ideas for weddings.
All couples have very unique personalities. We have seen a lot of imagination and creativity in engagement photo shoots, bringing out individual personalities. This can be very fun and exciting for the couple to express who they are together. Put the album together for an adorable guestbook! Your guests will definitely enjoy looking through these pictures.
Now we get to the fun part… RECEPTION!! We all look forward to the dancing, drinking, food, and fellowship after the ceremony. Here are a few things that have become very popular for the reception. Candy Buffets have become a huge hit with all different types of candy, maybe even color coordinated with your wedding. If you are still trying to figure out a favor for your guests, this is a great idea! Late Night Snacks are a great idea. After everyone has been drinking and dancing a while, a miniature beef slider or miniature bbq sandwich will help curve the appetite.
This New Year will be a year of setting trends. There are so many resources for brides to help find ideas and make their dream come true. Enjoy the process! Planning can be fun, and doesn’t always have to be stressful. Happy Planning!
